Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) are trading platforms where you can exchange one token for another. Unlike centralized cryptocurrency exchanges (CEXs), such as tastytrade or Coinbase, DEXs rely on public blockchains as their underlying infrastructure, with all operations being run by smart contracts and algorithms with no third party involved.
Instead of centralized order books, DEXs operate algorithms known as Automated Market Makers (AMMs). AMMs rely on smart contract-based liquidity pools made up of two or more tokens against which traders can swap their tokens by connecting their self-custodial wallets like tastycrypto. Anyone can provide liquidity to these pools in exchange for rewards derived from trading fees.
What is DEX Screener?
DEX Screener is a leading crypto analysis and charting tool for exploring data across multiple DEXs and underlying chains, including Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Polygon, and more.
The platform has become popular due to its wide range of tools and features, all of which are free to use. It is a great crypto analysis tool for both beginners and advanced crypto traders.
🍒 DEXs are part of DeFi. Here’s how decentralized finance works.
What Can You Do on DEX Screener?
With DEX Screener, you can access real-time on-chain data, including:
- Token prices
- Liquidity
- Market cap
- Trading volumes
The platform offers other valuable features, such as trends, new token pairs, gainers and losers, and multicharts. With this data, you can improve your decision-making while trading.
You can enhance your day trading, swing, or long-term holding strategies by adding token pairs to your watchlist, identifying trending tokens, and setting price alerts, among others.
A key advantage of DEX Screener is the ability to trade on supported DEXs directly from the platform.
Many prefer DEX Screener because it supports long-tail (less popular) altcoins.
DEXs and Blockchains on DEX Screener
DEX Screener is currently the most comprehensive DEX data analysis tool, supporting over 5,000 tokens across 80 layer 1 and layer 2 networks. It tracks data on over 50 DEXs, including:
- Uniswap
- PancakeSwap
- SushiSwap
- Balancer
- Raydium
- Trader Joe
- KyberSwap
- OKX DEX
Although DEX Screener tracks data from a wide range of blockchain networks, it does not include support for Tron and its associated DEXs.
All data is derived directly from the blockchains it tracks, without any external APIs. The platform has a custom-built indexer to parse, analyze, and store raw blockchain logs, which is then used to offer screeners and charts.
How Do I Use Dex Screener?
As a comprehensive DEX data platform with many interesting features, you can use DEX Screener in multiple ways:
Technical analysis
You can use DEX Screener to conduct technical analysis, as it provides charts for every token, including long-tail altcoins with low liquidity and new listings. You can either click on a token pair listed on the homepage or use the search box to find the token pair you’re interested in. You can filter tokens by network, DEX, liquidity, volume, and more.
The charts are provided by TradingView, so they come with a whole bunch of technical indicators (from moving averages to the Relative Strength Index), chart types (including line, bars, and candlesticks), multiple timeframes, and a lot of options to draw on the chart to figure out trends, resistance/support levels, and set up strategies.

Unlike on TradingView, you can’t compare multiple pairs on the same chart here. Instead, you can use the multi-chart feature by clicking on “Multicharts” to add up to 16 charts on the screen. You can customize them as you see fit.

There is also a news section that you can access from the left menu, which will lead you to the latest titles from Cointelegraph, Coindesk, and Decrypt, among others.
